Art In Your Ear

THANKS!!! to the more than 48 people (and some of you pledged twice!!) who raised almost $5,000 for WMNF on Art in Your Ear in the latest marathon. How wonderful you are--how much you get it. Thanks so very much. Art in Your Ear is a weekly arts interview program, focusing on the creative process and how art addresses fundamental modern issues. A lovely bed of cheesey and inappropriate music lulls the listener into a false sense that all is right with the world as long as there is some damn art.

8/18/06 Last week two listeners complained that there was too much happiness and laughter on the show--inappropriately so--because of the horror in the Middle East right now, along with other tracks of pain across our country and the world. It got me to thinking about how we face and how we hide from the world, and how we process and how we deny the world and others' actions. It is also intriguing that some strangers feel so close to the wmnf people that they are comfortable being bare in their emotions and dealings with us. I have, of course, a multitude of thoughts and theories on these tidbits, but I would rather hear what you think. If you care to, please email me. thanks bunches.
